Over the last few months, I have slowly tapped into a few things that bring joy to my life. Towards the end of March, when I visited my wife she took me bowling with her a Battle Buddies. I was a nervous wreck, more so because I was afraid I’d make a fool of myself and let’s be honest… I thought I’d break a nail. I can’t tell you the last time I’d been bowling, perhaps college. I didn’t do as well as I thought I would, but I pushed myself to at least try and get out of my comfort zone. I had fun nonetheless and from that moment on, I knew I wanted to do it more often. My wife and her Battle Buddies made it their weekend hobby to hit up the bowling alley just about every weekend.
Fast forward to April, when she asked me what I wanted for my birthday in May. I usually don’t ask for anything in particular, but this time I told her I wanted my own bowling shoes and personal bag (to match hers, of course) and to go bowling with her Battle Buddies when I came to visit. Well, my amazing wife definitely delivered on the birthday wishes and got me the perfect pair of bowling shoes, personal bag for them, and an awesome afternoon of bowling with her Battle Besties… Yep, they’ve been promoted- friends turned family for sure! I can’t believe it has taken 32 years for me to realize all the things that bring joy to my life, but I am here for it and ready to put fear aside, chase my dreams, and let things happen naturally.
Can you believe I won the first game? Yeah, me either! Everyone joked that it was my new shoes and I believed them after a few times they said it and of course a few strikes later. I’m excited to tap into other things that truly brings joy to my life, but definitely looking forward to joining a bowling league once we get settled at our First Duty Station (FDS). We decided it would be a perfect Friday Date night, to join just a fun league… nothing too serious just yet.
It has been awesome to find something that brings so much joy to my life, like bowling does! Well, I’ve got some practicing to do, with my new bowling shoes. What are you doing in your life that brings you joy? I’d love to hear what you’re up to. Catch y’all next time, I’m running to grab some coffee…join me soon!

I love bowling, it’s VERY expensive in the UK for some reason but my son loves it and I’m sure his step sisters would as well x x
